Our organization was founded in 1987 on the idea of helping those in need. Ever since our organization was established, we have endeavored to provide help where the need is greatest.
Currently we are addressing the homeless situation in Harnett County. There are approximately 700 + homeless people in Harnett County. 40% of these people suffer from some level of mental illness. 25% of all homeless people are children. The average age of a homeless child on the streets is 9 years old. 25% of homeless people are Veterans.
United Way of Harnett County has partnered with Good Hope Hospital in order to learn more about the mentally ill in our community and to help address their needs. We have also partnered with and provide funding for Beacon Rescue Mission in Dunn, NC. We are working with Beacon currently to add another 2000 square feet of space in their Dunn facility which will add another 20 beds. We desperately need YOU to join us with an investment in this homeless matter. Please do not hesitate to share whatever amount you can afford with us so that we might achieve this goal sooner.
Our rotating Board of Directors is made up entirely of volunteers. We advocate for those who need our help. Even a little help goes a long way.
We are always looking for new board members who can bring additional talent to the United Way table. If you are interested in serving on our board, please email our Executive Director, David Hodges at email@example.com. We are very selective where our board members are concerned and therefore we must require all interested individuals to apply for this position.
We are always happy to find new volunteers who share our commitment to doing good in our community. Do you want to support us by helping with our work? Then do not hesitate to contact us. A helping hand is always greatly appreciated!
